MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- Mount Mercy senior Larissa Wilden posted the top mark in the NAIA this season in the high jump and was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for Jan. 28.
Wilden, an NAIA all-American in the high jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year, had a personal-best while winning the high jump at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday in Mount Vernon. Her leap of 5'-7" is also the best effort of the NAIA indoor season.
There were several runner-up performances by Mustangs at Cornell. Freshman Dana Ewan won the women's 5,000 meter run in 20:19.48, which is also sixth in the MCC. She was also eighth in the 800 meter run in 2:38.08, putting her 10th on the conference performance list.
Senior Stephanie Nibaur's second-place finish came in the 5,000 meters (20:24.94). Freshman Regan Enfield's was in the 60 meter hurdles (:10.31). Enfield also placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:05.42). The 4x200 meter relay team of freshmen Justine Jensen and Kayley Keller, sophomore Ashley Boyer and freshman Candace Allen was also second in 1:56.27.
On the men's side, senior Bryant Rader ran the top time in the MCC in the 5,000 meters while finishing second with a time of 16:16.72.
The Mustangs go back to Cornell this weekend for the Hilltop Invitational on Saturday at the Small Multi-Sport Center in Mount Vernon.
