CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy was firing on all cylinders again tonight, hitting triple digits for the third game in a row in a 103-64 Midwest Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over Clarke at Hennessey Recreation Center.
The seventh-ranked Mustangs have won four straight since a 92-87 loss to league-leading William Penn on Jan. 19 in Cedar Rapids. Mount Mercy (23-3, 8-1 MCC) will face the second-ranked Statesmen (25-1, 9-0 MCC) again on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Penn Gym in Oskaloosa.
Wednesday's performance against Clarke (10-14, 4-6 MCC) included 51.3 percent shooting overall and 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from 3-point range. The Mustangs also outrebounded the Crusaders, 47-36, and forced 21 turnovers while committing just seven.
Senior forward Chad Underwood scored 20 points and hauled down seven rebounds for Mount Mercy. Senior guard Lamar Wall added 17 points, senior forward Alex Coleman 16. Junior guard Bobby Sherwood chipped in nine points and nine assists, junior forward LaDon Singleton had nine points and senior forward Vladimir Vukovic eight points and seven boards.
Tre Wagner dropped in a game-high 21 points to lead Clarke. Kris Brooks had 11 points and game-high nine rebounds, Luke Cassedy 10 points.
