OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Mount Mercy seniors Larissa Wilden and Jenna Higgins swept the Midwest Collegiate Conference women's track honors for the week of Feb. 18.
Wilden was named the MCC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after qualifying for the NAIA indoor national meet in the pentathlon. Her performance at the Warburg Invitational put her sixth in the nation with 3,281 points in the event.
Wilden broke her own school mark in the 60 meter hurdles (:09.03), hit an automatic qualifying mark again in the high jump (5'-6") and recorded personal bests in the long jump (17'-3/4") and 800 meter run (2:40.44).
It's the third MCC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor for Higgins. She won the 60 meter dash with a season-best and provisional qualifying time of :07.76. Her 58-second split in the 4x400 meter relay helped the Mustangs finish third with a new school record.
Both Wilden and Higgins will compete at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships Feb. 28-March 2 in Geneva, Ohio.
