OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Mount Mercy freshman pitcher and outfielder Hannah Petersen has been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week for March 25.
Petersen led the Mustangs to four wins in their final six games at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. She hit .524 (11-for-21) with two doubles and a triple. Petersen also scored six runs and drove in 12. She three RBIs in each of Mount Mercy's last two games against Trinity Christian (Ill.) and Indiana Tech.
Weather has disrupted the early portion of the conference schedule, which was to get underway over the weekend. Mount Mercy's doubleheader at William Penn on Sunday was postponed until Thursday, April 4, at 4:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa.
Their two-game set with Grand View on Tuesday has also been postponed, with the Mustangs and Vikings now set to square off on Monday, April 1, at 3:00 p.m. in Des Moines. Right now, Mount Mercy's home opener is slated for Wednesday, April 3, at 5:00 p.m. at Tomahawk Park in Cedar Rapids.
