OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Mount Mercy athletes earned an individual title and the Mustangs were runner-up in four more events in a fourth-place finish at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Grand View ran away with the team championship with 304 points. Runner-up was St. Ambrose with 269 points, then came William Penn (115), Mount Mercy (79), Clarke (58) and Viterbo (Wis.) (24).
Junior TJ Mosbach won the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:43.70 and was second in the 5,000 meters in 16:21.70. Other runner-up finishers were sophomore Tyler Hartley in the 1,500 meters (4:09.92), junior Mitch Johnson in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:07.88) and junior Kodey Salow in the javelin (48.04m).
Hartley, Johnson, freshman Erik Ryan and senior Andre Moodie were third in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:01.36. Mount Mercy senior Blake Campbell, senior Sid Beck, sophomore Bradley Phillips and junior Antonio Thomas placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay in :44.03. Campbell, Moodie, Hartley and Beck teamed up to finish fifth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:31.62.
Only a last chance qualifier is left prior to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 22-25 in Marion, Ind.
