OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- A total of nine Mustangs received postseason honors from the Midwest Collegiate Conference when the MCC announced its 2013 all-conference softball team on Sunday.

Senior third baseman Jacki Ciran, senior designated player/catcher Sarah Hill, junior center fielder Erica Soppe and junior right-hander Catie Flaucher were first-team all-conference selections as voted on by the league's coaches. Ciran led the Mustangs with 37 runs batted in while hitting .377 with three home runs and a team-high 14 doubles.

Hill was Mount Mercy's leading hitter with a .400 average to go along with six doubles and 15 RBIs. Soppe started all 45 games for the Mustangs, batting .321 with six doubles and 20 runs batted in. Her 33 steals led the MCC and were the second-best single season total ever by a Mustang. Soppe is now second in school history with 63 career steals.

Flaucher was Mount Mercy's top starting pitcher, going 14-10 with a 2.15 earned run average in 31 appearances. She logged 153 1/3 innings, allowing 107 hits while striking out 176 and walking 71. Flaucher threw 16 complete games with eight shutouts and also collected five saves.

Senior shortstop Brooklyn Schrader, freshman first baseman Amanda Gaffey, freshman second baseman Brianna Sturtz, freshman right fielder/pitcher Hannah Petersen and freshman catcher/designated player Whitney Matlack received all-MCC honorable mention.

Schrader hit .300 with 21 RBIs. Gaffey drove in a team-high 38 runs while batting .287 and sharing the team lead with seven home runs. Sturtz, who started all 45 games this spring, maintained a .338 average at the plate with 22 RBIs.

Petersen finished with a .331 batting average with three homers, nine doubles and 37 runs batted in. Matlack hit at a .349 clip and finished with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
