OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- On the heels of a dominating performance at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, Mount Mercy's Jenna Higgins has been named the MCC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for May 6.
It's the eighth such honor since the start of the indoor season for the senior from Eldridge, who is a three-time MCC Track Athlete of the Week and five-time MCC Field Athlete of the Week. Higgins, the MCC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in February, was also named the MCC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year this weekend.
Higgins competed in seven events at the outdoor championships, winning five. She won the 100 meters (:12.09), 200 meters (:25.26), javelin (127'-0") and the 4x100 meter relay (:48.04) and set a meet record while winning the 100 meter hurdles (:14.82). Higgins also won the heptathlon two weeks earlier at the MCC Multi-Event Championships.
