CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy has hired its first full-time head women's soccer coach, and it's a familiar face. Former part-time head coach Raven McMurrin moves in to the full-time role on July 1, Athletics Director Scot Reisinger announced today.
"Coach McMurrin has had two of the most successful seasons in the history of women's soccer during her tenure and I have little doubt that success will continue now that she is full time," said Reisinger.
McMurrin was an assistant coach at Mount Mercy in 2006, then became head coach a year later. She is 41-67-6 in seven seasons, including a 9-9-2 mark last fall when the Mustangs hosted the first postseason match in school history.
McMurrin received her bachelor's degree in elementary/middle level education from Northern Iowa. She was a three-year member of the Panther women's soccer team and was named team captain as a senior.
"I am excited about this transition along with the opportunities that will be provided while serving as a full-time coach," McMurrin said.
