CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy men's soccer team scored a late goal to make it interesting, but Northwestern held on to defeat the Mustangs, 4-3, on Tuesday at Lower Kingston Field.
After trailing early, consecutive goals by Marco Fichtner and Filip Kovasevic gave Mount Mercy a 2-1 lead before Tukker Bogaard evened the match with only five seconds to go in the first half.
The Red Raiders (2-4-0) led, 4-2, as the clock ticked down. But Fichtner's fourth goal of the season in the 88th minute made the final two minutes more intense. Northwestern held on to hand the Mustangs (3-3-0) their second straight loss at home.
