CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy men's soccer team ended a three-game slide on Tuesday, dominating Waldorf in a 3-0 victory over the Warriors at Lower Kingston Field.
The Mustangs (4-4-0) dominated the match, blasting 17 shots on goal and 28 overall compared to just three shots on goal and five total shots by Waldorf. Warrior goalkeeper Alejandro Olmos stopped 13 shots, while freshman Goar Kempf-Heitlinger saved all three for Mount Mercy.
Freshman forward Filip Kovacevic began the scoring in the 40th minute, notching his fourth goal of the season on an assist by freshman midfielder Milan Kovacs. Senior midfielder Veselin Karagyuarov (48') and senior forward Bobby MacGillivray (58') added their first goals of the year to cap things off.
A rematch with Upper Iowa is next on Mount Mercy's schedule, with a 5:00 p.m. start slated for Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Lower Kingston Field. The Peacocks beat the Mustangs, 4-2, on Sept. 13 in Fayette.
