CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Junior midfielder Nicole Morrow found the back of the net in the ninth minute and Mount Mercy made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Waldorf on Tuesday at Lower Kingston Field.

Offense was at a premium as the teams combined for only 12 total shots and three shots on goal. Morrow's second goal of the season and freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Steffe's first career shutout halted the Mustangs' five-game losing streak.

Prior to the match, both teams honored former teammate Haley Rinaldi, who was killed in a boating accident this summer in Colorado. Rinaldi began her collegiate career at Waldorf before spending her junior season at Mount Mercy.

After an emotional ceremony led by Mustang Head Coach Raven McMurrin, men's and women's players from Mount Mercy and Waldorf joined everyone in attendance in honoring Haley with a round of applause. Players released purple balloons from midfield before taking the pitch.

The Mustangs (2-5-0) host Saint Mary (Neb.) on Saturday at noon at Lower Kingston Field.
