CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Golfer Chad Greenlee '02 and baseball standout Anthony Valera '07 will become the newest members of the Mount Mercy Athletic Hall of Fame when they're inducted on Friday night as part of Homecoming 2013.

Greenlee, from Cedar Rapids, was a two-time NAIA all-region (2000-01, 2011-02) and two-time all-Midwest Classic Conference (1998-99, 2001-02) standout for the Mustangs.

The three-time team MVP (1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02) also led Mount Mercy to the NAIA Region VII championship and NAIA national tournament during the 2001-02 season.

Greenlee currently ranks ninth in school history with a 76.77 scoring average in 74 career rounds. He graduated in 2002 with a degree in marketing.

Valera, from Miami, Fla., was NAIA all-region and an NAIA honorable mention all-American during one of the most prolific seasons in history in 2004. He set a school record for runs scored (67) and his 16 home runs are still the second-best single-season total in school history.

The two-time all-Midwest Classic Conference (2004, 2006) standout is Mount Mercy's career leader in games started (205) and ranks second all-time in home runs (38), doubles (51), runs batted in (182) and runs scored (176).

Valera, who batted .344 as a Mustang, is also third in career hits (240). He graduated in 2007 with a degree in political science/criminal justice.

The Hall of Fame celebration, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Betty Cherry Heritage Hall, kicks off a weekend celebration at Mount Mercy. Friday night's Hall of Fame ceremony will be streamed live via the Stretch Internet Game Central. You can watch it here.

The annual alumni games are scheduled for Saturday. Soccer is at 10:00 a.m. at Lower Kingston Field, baseball takes place at 1:00 p.m. at Xavier High School, softball gets underway at 1:00 p.m. at Tomahawk Park and the men's basketball game starts at 3:30 p.m. at Hennessey Recreation Center.

New to this year's schedule are an open house, hosted at the future site of the Mount Mercy Athletic Complex, as well as a Mustang Athletic Reunion Event. Athletic Director Scot Reisinger will be at 909 17th Street NE from 2:00-3:00 p.m. to visit about the future home of Mustang soccer, baseball, softball and track & field. The Athletic Reunion event is at 6:00 p.m. at Mulligan's Pub in Cedar Rapids.
