CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy placed two runners in the top 10 and finished second to defending champion St. Ambrose at Saturday's Midwest Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships at Jones Park.
The Fighting Bees had four of the top five finishers to claim their second straight conference title with 23 points. The Mustangs were runner-up with 66 points, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) (94), Grand View (95), Clarke (122) and William Penn (141).
Sophomore Liz Mosbach was an honorable mention all-conference performer after an eighth-place finish in the 5K with a time of 20:44. Junior Eveline Niyokwizigigwa, who placed 10th in 20:51, and sophomore Dana Ewan, who finished 12th in 20:56, also received all-MCC honorable mention. Freshman Katie Hoffert (17th/21:09), senior Mackenzie Holladay (19th/21:12), freshman Kelsey Feldman (21st/21:21) and senior Anne Bruno (24th/21:32) also competed for the Mustangs.
Mosbach will also race at the 58th Annual NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. It's her second consecutive national meet.
