DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The season came to an end for the Mount Mercy volleyball team on Saturday night as fourth-seeded St. Ambrose defeated the fifth-seeded Mustangs, 25-14, 27-25, 25-18, in the quarterfinals of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament at Lee Lohman Arena.
Mount Mercy's offensive attack was paced by freshmen Leslie Hoffmann and Cori Peterzalek. Hoffmann drilled a team-high 13 kills, while Peterzalek tallied 10. Sophomore setter Allie McQuiston finished with 27 assists and 11 digs and junior libero Kara Oakley added 12 digs.
The Mustangs finish the season at 9-25 overall, while the Fighting Bees (15-21) advance to the MCC semifinals to take on top-seeded and 22nd-ranked Grand View (27-13).
