KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Mount Mercy men's golf team is ranked 19th in the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released by the national office on Nov. 8.
The Mustangs won the Mustang "36" Challenge and finished in the top three in all seven events during the 2013 fall season. They maintained a 301.2 team scoring average with a team low round of 290 on the final day of the Ronnie Eastman Invitational.
During the fall season, Mount Mercy was led in scoring by senior Ryan Schrimper, who kept a 74.4 average over 14 rounds. Juniors Matt Schlueter and Jacob Selander weren't far behind at 75.5 strokes per round. Schrimper, Schlueter and Selander shared the low round for the fall, which was 69.
Wayland Baptist (Texas), which finished 16th at the NAIA national tournament in the spring, opens the season in the top spot in the poll. Oklahoma City, Coastal Georgia, Oklahoma Baptist and Grand View round out the top five.
