OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Sophomore Liz Mosbach and junior Tyler Hartley picked up Midwest Collegiate Conference honors this week after performances at the UW-Platteville Open in Platteville, Wis.
Mosbach hit the automatic qualifying mark for the NAIA indoor national meet in the long jump and finished second with a leap of 18'-3" at Platteville. That distance leads the MCC and is second in the nation so far this season.
The MCC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week also had a good day on the track, winning the 600 meters with an MCC-leading time of 1:42.12. Mosbach also anchored Mount Mercy's 4x400 meter relay team that finished third.
Hartley, the MCC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, won the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:37.85, which is second in the MCC this season, and placed third in the 1,000 meters with an MCC-leading time of 2:43.41.
Two more Mustangs won their respective events on Saturday, including Nathan Stern and Nicole Sanborn. Stern, who has already hit the NAIA's prelimary qualifying mark in the shot put, won the event at Platteville with a 49'-11 1/4" toss. Sanborn took the title in the 60 meter dash with a time of :08.31.
