Mustangs compete at Western Illinois
MACOMB, Ill. -- The outdoor season continued for the Mount Mercy track & field teams at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational over the weekend at Hanson Field.
The Mustangs were fifth on the women's side with 92 points. Liz Mosbach posted top-five finishes in the long jump (5th/17'-3/4") and triple jump (4th/35'-2 1/2"). Her mark in the triple jump is a new school record.
Mount Mercy's Eveline Niyokwizigigwa (42:27.42), Mackenzie Holladay (44:32.17), Abby Martin (45:12.82) and Katerina Althoff (47:22.87) finished 1-4 in the 10,000 meter run.
Also posting top-five performances were Rachel Jellings in the 100 meter hurdles (4th/:16.72) and Dana Ewan in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (4th/12:28.11).
The women's 4x400 meter relay team, including Mosbach, Blakely Martin, Aminah Baloch and Sha'Rhonda Clark, placed fourth as well with a time of 4:10.49.
The Mount Mercy men ended up seventh in the team standings with 38 points. TJ Mosbach was runner-up in the 10,000 meter run (33:37.85) and fourth in the 5,000 meters (16:13.17), while Tyler Hartley came in fourth in the 800 meter run (1:57.23).
