CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- For the fourth consecutive season, the Mount Mercy cross country programs brought home the Coe-Stang Trophy with a convincing 37-83 combined victory over Coe at the Five Seasons Duel on Friday at a soaked Morgan Creek Park.
On the women's side, Mount Mercy had the top seven runners, led by winner Molly Pruett with a time of 19:20 in the three-mile run. She was followed by Katie Hoffert (19:37), Jazmine Reynolds (19:30), Andrea Ertz (19:44), Alexa Zamora (19:56), Vanessa Cortes (20:07) and Kathryn Vander Poel (20:21).
Coe's Nathan Haerr took the men's four-mile run in 21:18, but Mount Mercy had four of the top five finishers. Colton Forster was runner-up in 21:36, then came James Lindstrom (21:46), Aaron Golding (22:09) and Michael Marshall (22:14).
Jacob Blackmon placed eighth (22:46), Tyus Thompson 18th (24:49), Jake Hensel 19th (24:52), Eric Hansen 20th (24:56), Devin Stone 21st (26:42), Jon Andersen 22nd (28:10) and Mauricio Diaz 23rd (31:35). The Mustangs edged the Kohawks, 22-33.
Coming up for Mount Mercy is a return to the National Catholic Championship hosted by Notre Dame University on Friday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
