CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Grand View, the top-ranked team in NAIA men's volleyball, hit .380 and totaled five team blocks while defeating Mount Mercy, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match at Hennessey Recreation Center on Thursday night.
The Vikings (8-2, 3-0 Heart) came in having won four straight and made it five, but not without some resistance from the Mustangs (1-13, 0-5 Heart). Grand View pulled away late in each set behind a balanced offense. Six players had at least five kills each, led by Zakir Pasha's eight kills.
The majority of Mount Mercy's offense once again came from Nikola Stoimenov and Strahil Svilenski, who had 10 kills apiece. Bobby Muller finished with 21 assists while Svilenski and Justin Atienza each collected five digs.
The Mustangs have two more matches at home in the month of February. They'll host Fontbonne on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. and a Heart of America rematch with Clarke on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
