GULF SHORES, Ala. -- Katie Hoffert finished 17th and Evan Bowman 24th in the marathon, while Armando Arellanos placed 28th in the hammer throw at the 66th Annual Men's and 37th Annual Women's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
It was the first appearance at the outdoor national meet for Hoffert and Arellanos. Hoffert crossed the finish line in 3:34:02.50 to finish 17th out of 38 competitors. Her time also ranks third in school history in the event. Arellanos produced the third-best throw of his collegiate career while placing 28th with a toss of 160'-10".
Bowman, who qualified for the championships in the marathon for the second year in a row, completed the course in 3:02:43. That was good for 24th place in a field of 45 runners and ranks fifth in school history. Bowman set the school record of 2:45:46.10 at last year's NAIA national meet.
