MARION, Iowa -- Indian Hills ran away with the team championship at the 16-team Klocke Classic, hosted by Mount Mercy on Saturday and Sunday at Hunters Ridge Golf Course. The Mount Mercy Gold team tied for second, while Mount Mercy Blue finished ninth.
With rounds of 69 and 76, Matt Caulfield of Mount Mercy Gold finished fourth in a field of 82 golfers with a 145 total (+1). George Long (73-75=148) tied for seventh, Thomas Schuhkraft (80-74=154) tied for 24th, Tyler Breitbach (74-82=156) tied for 34th and Oscar Anderson (85-78=163) tied for 57th.
William Bruyeres (77-75=152) was the top scorer for Mount Mercy Blue, tying for 18th. Ben Jones (78-77=155) tied for 29th, Tyler Stueck (78-80=158) tied for 41st, Nile Happel (83-78=161) tied for 52nd and Philip Nelson (80-82=162) placed 56th.
Julien Sale (69-69=138) and Ricky Sanders (73-71=144) finished 1-2 as Indian Hills (293-290=583) cruised to a 16-stroke victory over Mount Mercy Gold (296-303=599) and Kirkwood (299-300=599). Kirkwood White (295-305=600) finished fourth and Bethany (Kan.) (299-306=605) was fifth. Mount Mercy Blue (313-310=623) ended up ninth.
The Mustangs are already on the road to their next event, traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., for the Wolfpack Invitational hosted by Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) on Monday and Tuesday at Brown Deer Park Golf Course.
