The Mustangs held an eight-stroke lead after Sunday's opening round, then held on for a two-stroke victory over Loras on day two. Mount Mercy finished at 655, which included rounds of 314 and 341, while the Duhawks totaled 657. Knox (Ill.) was third at 670, North Central (Ill.) fourth at 672.

Montgomery opened with a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday, which only trailed junior teammate Ross McLaughlin's 76 on the leaderboard. On a day where scores went upward due to high winds, Montgomery added an 82 on Monday to finish at 159.

McLaughlin, who carded an 84 in the second round, tied with freshman teammate Declan Hasson (78-82) and Noel Frideres of Loras at 160. Senior Chad Worley (83-93) tied for 35th at 176 and freshman Sheldon Bazzell (96-96) placed 54th at 192.

The Mustangs have a pair of events left during the fall season, beginning with the Viterbo (Wis.) Fall Invitational this weekend in La Crosse, Wis. Play gets underway on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and Monday at 9:00 a.m.
