Skay's goal, which also matched her 2008 total that ranks third on Mount Mercy's single-season chart, came on an assist by freshman midfielder Kandice Kiernan. It was Kiernan's score in the 47th minute that evened the match at 1-1 after Viterbo's Lauren Turinetti put the V-Hawks up, 1-0, in the 42nd minute.

Goalkeepers Katie Manning and Stephanie Stacey did their best to keep their teams in the game. Manning stopped seven shots for the Mustangs (6-8-1, 1-4-0 MCC), while Stacey made nine saves for the V-Hawks (6-9-0, 3-3-0 MCC).

Mount Mercy's four-game homestand continues this week as the Mustangs host Waldorf in MCC action on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Lower Kingston Field. Grand View comes to town on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. league match on Seniors Day, Saturday, Oct. 17.
