The freshman outside hitter from Marion, a first-team all-state performer last season for the Indians, set a school record for kills in a season last week at Ashford.

Thomas recorded 11 kills against the Saints on Tuesday to give her 486 on the year, surpassing Mandy Pins' mark of 480 set in 2002. With at least two matches left for the Mustangs, Thomas could be the first Mustang in school history to reach 500 kills in a season.

Thomas has already moved into the top 25 in career kills, and could work her way into the top 20 before season's end. Her current average of 3.92 kills per game would also make her third all-time in that category, which includes every player in school history with at least 200 career kills.

In addition to leading Mount Mercy in kills, Thomas has the best serve receive percentage of any Mustang with at least 50 attempts (.906), is second on the team in digs (444) and digs per game (3.58), is fourth in total blocks (34) and fifth in service aces (25).

Mount Mercy takes an overall record of 17-17, including a 2-5 league mark, into tonight's Midwest Collegiate Conference regular season finale at William Penn. A win moves the Mustangs into fifth in the conference standings, while a loss would drop them into eighth place in the MCC.
