ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Top-seeded and undefeated Ashford scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-0 shutout of fourth-seeded Mount Mercy in the semifinals of the 2009 Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday at Augustana (Ill.).

Eddie Garza recorded a hat trick for the Saints (18-0-2), scoring twice in the first period and once after the break. Michael Handley's goal in the 42nd minute put Ashford ahead 3-0 at intermission. Saints goalkeeper Nick Roman stopped 11 shots by the Mustangs, who end the season at 7-7-6 overall.
