CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy junior Ben Montgomery, runner-up at the Viking Classic hosted by Grand View Sept. 28-29, has been named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for Oct. 6.

Montgomery, who finished two strokes back of medalist Brett Nymeyer of Waldorf, fired a pair of even-par 71s for a 142 total. The Mustangs came in third at the annual event. Through Mount Mercy's first four events this fall, Montgomery is on pace to set a new single season scoring record for the Mustangs.

Mount Mercy wraps up the fall season with the first two rounds of the 2008-09 MCC Tournament, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14, at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa. The final 36 holes of the tournament will be played at the end of the 2009 spring season.
