Photo of Shanda NovakPhoto of Catalina de la QuintanaCEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A balanced scoring attack and terrific 3-point shooting sparked Mount Mercy to an 80-62 victory over Clarke in Midwest Collegiate Conference women's basketball Wednesday night at Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs (17-10, 9-4 MCC) only led by eight points, 45-37, with 17:39 to go in the game, but went on a 27-8 run to take its largest lead of the game, 72-45, with 9:56 remaining. The Crusaders (6-21, 3-10 MCC) could only get as close as 14 the rest of the way as Mount Mercy earned a sweep of the season series.

Senior guard Catalina de la Quintana led the way for the Mustangs with a game-high 18 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Sophomore guard Laura Lippert added 14 points and four boards. Senior forward Shanda Novak's seventh double-double of the season included 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Sophomore guard Emily Greiner came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers and total 11 points.

Joquetta Rolle also notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Crusaders. Kaveria Allen had 14 points, Michelle Jamison 11. Morgan Sullivan chipped in eight points, Casey Breitbach seven points, six boards, and five assists.

Mount Mercy will play its final road game of the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Oskaloosa in hopes of avenging a 66-57 overtime loss to William Penn on Jan. 16 in Cedar Rapids. Tip time is 1:00 p.m. at Penn Gymnasium.
