The Mustangs (18-11, 10-5 MCC) led, 11-4, after a pair of free throws by junior forward Tonya Davis with 13:26 to go in the first half. The 18th-ranked Vikings (23-7, 13-3 MCC) came back and led by as many as six before taking a 35-30 advantage into the break.

Grand View built a 12-point lead early in the second period and was able to hang on down the stretch. Mount Mercy got within four several times after intermission, the last coming on sophomore guard Emily Greiner's layup with 32 seconds to go. Four straight free throws by Micah Reed and another by Bailey Schechinger sealed the win for the Vikings.

Davis paced the Mustangs with 19 points. Greiner joined her in double figures with 11 points. Sophomore guard Ashley Koch grabbed a team-high five rebounds, but Mount Mercy was dominated on the boards, 44-28.

Reed had 19 points and six assists for the Vikings. Jennifer Jorgensen's double-double included 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jamie Sickles added 10 points, Amy Vos nine, and Schechinger finished with 10 boards.

The loss eliminated Mount Mercy's chances of taking over the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament. Iowa Wesleyan has locked up the MCC title, and now Grand View has secured the No. 2 seed. The Mustangs can earn the No. 3 seed with a win over Ashford on Seniors Day on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hennessey.
