CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Sophomore guard Emily Greiner led four Mustangs in double figures with 19 points, leading third-seeded Mount Mercy to an 84-64 victory over sixth-seeded Waldorf in the quarterfinals of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Thursday at Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs (20-11) only led by one at the break, 44-43, but held the Warriors (10-20) to 29 percent shooting in the second half while outscoring Waldorf, 40-21. Mount Mercy recorded season highs with 23 steals and seven blocked shots. The Mustangs, who were 24-9 last year, have posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1994-95 and 1995-96.

Greiner tied a career-high with five 3-pointers during her 19-point evening. Senior guard Catalina de la Quintana added 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and a career-high seven steals. Senior forward Shanda Novak added 16 points and a team-high seven boards, sophomore guard Ashley Koch 15 points, four rebounds, and career-high six steals.

There were four Warriors in double digits as well, led by Sarah Swanson's 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Aakre had 12 points, Samantha Boje 11, and Aubrey Draves 10. Rachel Hannam totaled seven points, eight boards, seven assists, and three steals.

Mount Mercy travels to Des Moines to take on second-seeded Grand View (24-7) in an MCC semifinal on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The 17th-ranked Vikings, who defeated the Mustangs both times this season, pounded Clarke, 78-52, tonight.

In Saturday's other semifinal, top-seeded Iowa Wesleyan (23-7) hosts fourth-seeded St. Ambrose (24-7) in Mount Pleasant. The 13th-ranked Tigers drilled eighth-seeded Viterbo (Wis.), 69-36, on Thursday, while the Queen Bees knocked off fifth-seeded William Penn, 76-49. The highest remaining seed will host Monday's championship game at 7:00 p.m.
