MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa -- Mount Mercy seniors Catalina de la Quintana and Shanda Novak were among the 21 student-athletes honored when the Midwest Collegiate Conference announced its women's basketball awards today.

Quintana, who received honorable mention a year ago, was a first-team all-conference selection this season. She led the Mustangs and was 10th in the MCC in scoring (13.1 ppg), ranked fifth in the MCC in assists (3.88 apg), and third in steals (2.59 spg).

Novak garnered honorable mention for the second year in a row. Mount Mercy's second-leading scorer was 17th in the conference at 10.1 points per game. She was also eighth in the MCC in rebounding (6.8 rpg), seventh in field goal percentage (45.0%), and fifth in free throw percentage (77.8%).

Iowa Wesleyan swept all of the individual awards after winning the regular season and conference tournament titles. Junior forward Jessi Beachey was named 2010 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. She topped the MCC in scoring (17.7 ppg) and was second in field goal percentage (58.3%). Steve Williamson picked up his third MCC Coach of the Year award.
