Photo of Laura WilbergMARION, Iowa -- Sophomore Laura Wilberg finished 17th to lead the Mustangs to a ninth place finish at the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational over the weekend at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.

Wilberg shot an opening-round 88 and followed that with a 93 for a 181 total, which was good for 17th place in a field of 55 golfers. Freshman Bailee Goodfellow tied for 21st at 185 (94-91), sophomore Kristine Kouba finished 46th at 211 (102-109), freshman Kayla McGrew placed 47th at 214 (104-110), and sophomore Jessica Mrkvicka was 50th at 221 (106-115).

St. Olaf (Minn.) was the team champion with a 20-stroke victory over Carleton (Minn.). The Oles finished at 687 after rounds of 335 and 352. Carleton was next at 707, followed by Ashford (727), Grinnell (737), Clarke (741), Viterbo (Wis.) (756), Augustana (Ill.) (759), Coe (773), Mount Mercy (791), and Iowa Wesleyan (824).

Jordan Davis of Ashford was medalist after shooting 84 and 82 for a 166 total. Chelsey McCoy of Viterbo and Hope Keaney of Carleton tied for second at 168, Brittany Boon of Ashford was fourth at 169, and Lizzy Zahn was fifth at 170.

The Mustangs travel to Hannibal, Mo., for the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) Invitational Monday-Tuesday, April 19-20, at 9:00 a.m.
