Photo of Ross McLaughlinANKENY, Iowa -- Led by junior Ross McLaughlin's 10th-place finish, the Mount Mercy men's golf team finished sixth at the 2010 Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament last weekend at Otter Creek Golf Course.

McLaughlin's final round 73 came on the heels of an opening round 77 and a 76 on day two, giving him a 226 total for the tournament. Senior Trent Jordan tied for 21st at 233 (76-78-79), senior Chad Worley was 24th at 235 (71-85-79), freshman Declan Hasson tied for 31st at 240 (80-80-80), and sophomore Jon Larson was 38th at 259 (91-89-79).

Grand View claimed its first MCC title, edging perennial league power St. Ambrose by nine strokes. The Vikings were first at 859, followed by the Bees at 868, Viterbo (Wis.) at 902, William Penn at 917, Iowa Wesleyan at 927, Mount Mercy at 933, Clarke at 969, and Ashford at 972.

Josh Manske of Grand View was medalist with a three-stroke victory over teammate Graeme Molloy. Manske shot a 206, Molloy 209. Jake Schertz (213), Dusty Drenth (214), and Danny Nelson (217) of St. Ambrose rounded out the top five.

Mount Mercy wraps up the spring schedule this week with the Metro Spring Tournament on Wednesday at Ellis Golf Course in Cedar Rapids and the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational this weekend. Play begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion.
