DECATUR, Ala. -- The NAIA has announced its 2010 Softball All-America teams, and Mount Mercy sophomore right-hander Becca Smith has received honorable mention all-America honors from the All-America Committee.

Smith was the Midwest Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year after a record-setting campaign. She was 21-3 with a 0.96 earned run average and 221 strikeouts while leading the Mustangs to their first MCC regular season title since 1992.

Smith then posted a 6-2 mark in posteason play, which included a 5-0 stretch that led the Mustangs to the MCC Tournament title and their first national tournament berth since 1990. She also picked up Mount Mercy's only win in pool play at the NAIA Softball National Championship, a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Union (Ky.).

Smith finished the season 27-5 with a 1.34 ERA in 34 appearances. That's the second-highest win total in school history, and her 48 career wins rank third all-time. In 208 2/3 innings this spring, she walked only 22 batters while breaking her own school record with 298 strikeouts. Smith had 255 strikeouts as a freshman, and is Mount Mercy's career strikeout leader with 553.
