CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy went undefeated in the Zio Johno's Mustang Invitational on Saturday at Hennessey Recreation Center to finish the tournament with a 3-1 mark.

In the opening match of the day, the Mustangs came back from a 9-2 deficit in the third set to earn a 25-20, 25-20, 26-24 sweep of Culver-Stockton (Mo.). Sophomore outside hitter Brittney Thomas and senior middle blocker Jena Blint were the leading attackers for Mount Mercy, finishing with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Blint also had three blocks.

Setters Hope Baumgartner and Janae Rosien combined for 39 assists, with Baumgartner collecting 22 and Rosien 17. Mount Mercy finished with eight service aces, including three from Baumgartner and two each from Blint and senior defensive specialist Alexa Francois.

The Mustangs rolled Grace (Neb.) in their finale, winning 25-18, 25-19, 25-17. Mount Mercy's balanced offense saw five players record at least five kills, including eight by sophomore middle blocker Allison Adams. Thomas and juniors Becca Lampe and Deidre Schaefer tallied six apiece, while Blint and senior middle blocker Amanda Menke each had five.

Baumgartner ended up with 18 assists and Rosien 16. Senior libero Beth Ripperger had 14 digs and has a team-high 59 through the first four matches.
