CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Senior forward Petar Triva set a school record with four goals, leading the Mount Mercy men's soccer team to a 7-2 victory over Rockford (Ill.) in non-conference action on Wednesday at Lower Kingston Field.

The Mustangs (1-1-0) scored four unanswered goals after Rockford's Eldin Advic gave the Regents a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Sophomore midfielder Vladimir Virovkic and Triva scored within minutes of each other to put Mount Mercy in front, 2-1, by intermission.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 4-1 on scores by sophomore forward Enrique Cortina and junior midfielder Cole Richmond in the opening minutes of the second period before Walter Burke notched his first goal of the season for Rockford. Triva then went on a three-goal spree to set Mount Mercy's single-game mark.

Triva also tied the school record with eight points in the game, a mark he shared with former Mustang standout Nick Miller. Triva had three goals and two assists against Calumet (Ind.) on Aug. 25, 2007, while Miller did the same against Cornell on Sept. 8, 2008.

Mount Mercy will play its third straight game at home this weekend, hosting Dordt on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Lower Kingston Field.
