IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Midway through the 2008-09 Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Tournament, Mount Mercy sits in fifth place after two rounds Monday and Tuesday at Finkbine Golf Course.

This year, for the first time, what was once a 36-hole league championship event is now a 72-hole tournament with the first two rounds contested in the fall and the final 36 holes to be played in April 2009.

St. Ambrose has an eight-stroke lead over Grand View in the team race. The Fighting Bees are at 580 after rounds of 283 and 297. The Vikings are next at 588, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) at 603, Iowa Wesleyan at 607, and Mount Mercy at 616. Waldorf is sixth at 624, Ashford seventh at 630, William Penn eighth at 638, and Clarke ninth at 639.

Adam White of St. Ambrose is in first place individually with a 5-under-par 139 that included an opening round, 4-under 68. Teammate Dusty Drenth and Luke Carson of Grand View are tied for second at 142. Mount Mercy junior Ben Montgomery posted a 75 and 77 and is in 14th at 152. Senior Shane Parmenter is tied for 18th at 154, senior Justin Leas is tied for 20th at 155, junior Chad Worley is 30th at 159, and senior Jason Juhl is tied for 31st at 160.
