ONALASKA, Wis. -- Mount Mercy found itself in fourth place after round one, but dropped a few spots on the final day and finished seventh at the Ronnie Eastman Invitational, hosted by Viterbo (Wis.) Sunday and Monday at the La Crosse Country Club.

Of the 13 schools at the event, eight were from the Midwest Collegiate Conference, including host Viterbo (Wis.), Mount Mercy, St. Ambrose, Grand View, Clarke, William Penn, Iowa Wesleyan, and Ashford.

St. Ambrose won the tournament with a 591 team total. Grand View was runner-up at 594, followed by Viterbo at 599. Carroll (Wis.) placed fourth (622), Clarke fifth (626), William Penn sixth (629), and Mount Mercy seventh (632).

With a 12-over-par 156 that included rounds of 77 and 79, junior Ned Carter tied for 24th for the Mustangs. Senior Ross McLaughlin tied for 28th (79-78=157), junior Derek McConnell tied for 35th (75-85=160), freshman Ryan Schrimper tied for 42nd (85-79=164), and junior Declan Hasson tied for 47th (80-85=165).

Derek Meier won a playoff with teammate Jordan Kerska to claim medalist honors. Both players finished at even-par 144. Jake Schertz (146) and Travis England (147) of St. Ambrose were third and fourth, respectively.
