MARION, Iowa -- The Mustangs finished up the spring season with their fifth tournament victory of the year, winning the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational by two strokes over Clarke on Monday at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.

Josh Udelhofen of Clarke and Mount Mercy junior Derek McConnell had the day's best round, a 1-over-par 73. Udelhofen garnered medalist honors on a card back and McConnell was runner-up, his sixth top-five finish of the year. McConnell also ended up as Mount Mercy's leading scorer this year at 76.1 strokes per round.

Juniors Ned Carter and Declan Hasson also finished in the top 10 for the Mustangs. Carter, who maintained a 77.1 scoring average this year, tied for fourth with a 3-over-par 75. Hasson placed seventh with a 5-over 77. Senior Ross McLaughlin tied for 12th after shooting an 81, senior Tim Hagge tied for 15th with an 82 and freshman Ryan Schrimper carded an 84 to tie for 18th.
