CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Senior forward Sam Kenyi had a game-high 20 points and 15 rebounds, leading the Mount Mercy men's basketball team to its third straight win, a 73-65 victory over Iowa Wesleyan in Midwest Collegiate Conference action on Wednesday at Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs (14-5, 5-3 MCC) are tied with William Penn (10-10, 5-3 MCC), one game back of league-leading Ashford (14-6, 6-2 MCC) and St. Ambrose (12-8, 6-2 MCC). They got there by overcoming a three-point halftime deficit, outrebounding the Tigers (8-7, 3-5 MCC), 41-30, and forcing 19 turnovers.

Three Mustangs joined Kenyi in double figures. Junior guard Markus Cocroft had a great all-around game on Wednesday, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Junior forward Alex Coleman added 10 points, six boards and five assists, while junior forward Chad Underwood tallied 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Jeremy Simmons scored 14 points for the Tigers. Kyle Warner chipped in 13 points and team-high seven rebounds. Jon Umoren had nine points and six assists.

Mount Mercy continues a three-game homestand against Viterbo (Wis.) (8-12, 3-5 MCC) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Hennessey.
