McMurrin took over the Mount Mercy women's soccer program after serving as an assistant coach during the 2006 season. During her tenure, she has led the women’s program to its best overall record in school history as well as its best finish in the Midwest Collegiate Conference.
She also coached three seasons at Cedar Rapids Xavier High School, amassing three state championships and a 60-2 overall record. In 2006, the Xavier girls’ soccer program went undefeated and won the girls’ state soccer championship, making them the first program in Class 1A to accomplish this feat.
Along with the three state championships, the Xavier girls’ program won Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) championships in 2006 and 2008 as well as a Metro area championship in 2006 under McMurrin. As the head coach of the Saints, McMurrin was named the MVC Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2008 as well as the the Metro Coach of the Year for the 2006 season. In 2006, she was also recognized as the National Federation of State High School Associations Coach of the Year for Iowa and the Central District.
At the club level, McMurrin was part of the Heartland Soccer Club professional coaching staff. As a club coach, McMurrin led the Heartland U13 girls’ team to the 2007 U.S. Youth Soccer Iowa State Cup Championship. She also organized and directed the U5-U8 youth league programs for the soccer club.
More recently, McMurrin has been an assistant coach for the Solon High School boys’ soccer team. During her time on staff, the Solon boys’ team finished as the 2011 Class 1A state runner-up and a 2012 Class 1A state participant. Both were first time accomplishments for the program. McMurrin is also Co-Director of Coaching for Solon FC, which is a recently developed local soccer club that offers skill development and playing opportunities for youth in the Solon, Iowa, area.
McMurrin resides in Ely, Iowa with her husband, Jeremy, and son, Eason.
