Jamie Jimison
Head Coach
1st Season
Jimison, a native of Sardinia, Ohio,
became Mount Mercy's head track & field coach and
assistant cross country coach prior to the 2010-11 season. He joined the Mustangs after serving as
head men's and women's track & field and cross country coach at
Union College in Barbourville, Ky.
Jimison built both programs
from scratch at Union, and in four seasons with the Bulldogs, had 10
NAIA all-Americans and a national champion. He also counted five NAIA
Scholar-Athletes during his tenure, and was the Appalachian Athletic
Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 after leading Union to the AAC
men's outdoor track championship.
Jimison competed in track &
field and cross country at Berea College in Berea, Ky., where he was a
three-time NAIA national meet qualifier for the Mountaineer cross
country team and qualified for the steeplechase at the NAIA track &
field national championships.
An NAIA Scholar-Athlete, Jimison
earned a B.A. in physical education and health from Berea in 2003. After
that, he served as an assistant track & field coach with the
Mountaineers in 2004 and went on to earn a M.A. in physical education
and health from Union in 2008.
Jimison and his wife, Bethany, currently reside in Cedar Rapids.
