Damion Drummond
Strength & Conditioning Coach
1st Season
Prior to joining the Mount Mercy coaching
staff, Drummond served as the Head Track & Field Coach at
Washington High School in Princess Anne, Md., during the 2009 and 2010
outdoor seasons. During his tenure, he was responsible for coaching
sprints, hurdles, jumps and middle-long distance events. Drummond
successfully coached an individual Maryland State Champion in the 300
meter hurdles and several individual regional and conference champions,
in addition to leading his program to the 2009 Maryland State 1A Outdoor
Regional Title.
Preceding Washington High School, Drummond was a
student-athlete, graduate assistant and volunteer coach under Head
Coach Ernest Barrett at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Throughout his time at UMES, Drummond assisted in the development and
supervision of multiple NCAA participants.
Drummond is a native
of Brooklyn, N.Y., and is a Jamaican by nationality. He currently
resides in Iowa City with his wife, Kristen Drummond. Drummond graduated
from UMES in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science
and once more in 2008 with a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling.
