Mustangs maintain average, eye Conference Competition
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. / ATCHISON, Kan. - At the Baker Classic this past Saturday, Feb. 11, the Mount Mercy cheer team posted their best score of the season, 57.26 points. The Mustangs then competed at the Benedictine Challenge the following day placing fourth.
Mount Mercy faced tough competition on Saturday with a field of nine teams. Missouri Valley took home the team title with 89.15 points, Oklahoma City was second (88.46 points), and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) (83.56 points) was third. Despite coming in eighth, the Mustangs improved their score by four points from the previous weekend.
The Mustangs overcame adversity, pushing through an injury and still coming away with a fourth out of six place finish on Sunday with 55.46 points.
Mount Mercy competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship this Saturday, Feb. 18 at Missouri Valley. The event begins at 10:00 am at the Burns Athletic Center in Marshall, Mo.
