Bio
Coach Cox is entering his sixth season as the Mount Mercy Head Cheer and Dance coach and has over 20 years of experience coaching cheer and dance. Coach Cox, a former Reddie, graduated from Hendeson State University in Arkansas with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training, as well as a Master’s of Science in Athletic Administration. Along with coaching numerous high-school and all-star programs, Cox spent two seasons coaching at Idaho State University, finishing second at the USA Nationals in 2005. In 2015, Cox helped establish a Competitive Dance and Cheer team by becoming the first Mount Mercy Head Cheer and Dance coach. Since they began competing in 2016, Cox has led the Mustangs to two Nationals Qualifications, coached seven All-Americans, and numerous NAIA and Heart Conference Scholar Athletes. This past season, Coach Cox was awarded the 2020 Heart of America Cheer Coach of the year and is the current President of the NAIA Cheer Executive Board.
Favorite Sports Moment: “Not one in particular, but I will always remember the joy of helping an athlete obtain a new skill, as well as all the relationships I have built with athletes across all sports here at Mount Mercy.”
