Uitermarkt Tabbed as Program's First Head Dance Coach
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mount Mercy athletics department is excited to announce the hiring of Lainee Uitermarkt, who rejoins campus as the program's first head dance coach.
Lainee has spent the last 15 years traveling across the Midwest choreographing for high school & college dance teams, and 10 years coaching NAIA collegiate teams. Through her creative & technical lens, Lainee coached these teams to historical national qualifications in the NAIA (2015, 2019, 2020).
She rejoins the program having served as an assistant coach from 2017-21. Her love for all styles, fitness, and the true technique of dance makes her passionate about teaching.
"I am honored and excited to step into the role of Head Dance Coach here at Mount Mercy. After spending 4 seasons as the assistant coach, I truly have been primed for this role to serve our student-athletes," Uitermarkt said. "I envision a blossoming dance program here on campus to include both competitive & classical avenues for students to explore. My goal is to support young adults in building the skills they need to teach dance, perform professionally, and express their artistic creativity while students here at Mount Mercy."
