Mustangs edge Pirates, head home for two Heart matchups

PARKVILLE, Mo. -- The trio of RoyShawn Webb, Bailey Basala, and Tyler Kelley led Mount Mercy to a hard-fought, 73-66 victory over Park in Saturday's Heart of America Athletic Conference men's basketball game.

Each team was short-handed as the Mustangs and Pirates each played just eight players. The trio of Webb, Basala, and Kelley combined for 45 points and 26 rebounds. to lead Mount Mercy (11-6, 4-3 Heart).

Basala's 19 points led all scorers, Webb posted a double-double that included 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Kelley finished with 13 points and five boards. Webb also dished out six assists.

Cory Reeves scored 17 points to go along with five rebounds for Park (7-5, 2-4 Heart), Quez Williamson chipped in 16 points and four steals, and Rodrigue Marthone contributed 13 points, three boards, and three assists.

Mount Mercy, 7-1 at home this season, hosts Graceland (4-14, 0-7 Heart) on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Central Methodist (14-4, 5-2 Heart), in a three-way tie for second place in the league, visits Hennessey Recreation Center on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
