Mustangs handle Yellowjackets, host Eagles this weekend

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy men's basketball team won for the fifth time in six games, cruising to a 76-64 victory over Graceland in Heart of America Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Hennessey Recreation Center.

Mount Mercy's only loss in the past month was a five-point defeat at the hands of fifth-ranked William Penn on Jan. 5. The Mustangs (12-6, 5-3 Heart) have won two straight and sit in a four-way tie for third place in the Heart. They host one of those teams, Central Methodist (14-5, 5-3 Heart) on Saturday at 4:00 pm.

Mustang startes accounted for all but 10 points agains the Yellowjackets (4-15, 0-8 Heart). It was a balanced attack led by Bailey Basala's 16 points. He completed a double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with four assists. RoyShawn Webb finished with 15 points, five boards, and five assists. Tyler Kelley also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and also dished out five assists. Chris Giles added 10 points and seven boards, Ryan Bartley 10 points and seven rebounds.

Amir Pettiford and Seth Compas each scored 13 points to lead Graceland. C.J. Wilson was the only other Yellowjacket in double figures with 10. Spencer Robinson pulled down 10 rebounds, Wilson collected seven and had four assists.
