Bartley named Freshman of the Year; Webb, Basala make all-conference teams

OLATHE, Kan. -- The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball postseason awards this week. Mount Mercy's Ryan Bartley was named Heart Freshman of the Year, RoyShawn Webb earned second-team honors, and Bailey Basala received honorable mention by a vote of league coaches.

Bartley averaged eight points and three rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent from the field in 28 games for the Mustangs. He made 18 starts and hit double figures in games, including a 21-point performance at Grand View.

Webb was Mount Mercy's second-leading scorer and rebounder at 14.4 points and 6.1 boards per contest. He also led the Mustangs in assists (3.7 apg) while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor, including 40.9 percent from three-point range. Webb joined Mount Mercy's 1,000-point club this season and scored over 2,000 points during his collegiate career.

Basala led the Mustangs in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots this season, averaging 16.9 points and 6.5 boards per outing. He shattered Mount Mercy's career three-point record which had stood for more than 25 years, finishing with exactly 300 treys as a Mustang.
