Mustangs Place Third in Opening Tournament

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Mount Mercy University men's bowling finished third overall at the Five Seasons Classic, recording a 9,539 total pinfall and an 8-2 match record. The Mustangs trailed only St. Ambrose (9,804) and Coe College (8,937) in the the opening tournament of the year.

Blake Walsh led Mount Mercy with an impressive 1,139 series over five games, averaging 227.8 pins to place third individually. Keaton Ostrowski followed in seventh at 1,076, while Jacob Bockstie rolled a 1,037 set for 13th. Zach Andresen rounded out the varsity top 20 with 1,026.

In JV competition, Mount Mercy's JV1 squad earned third with 8,570 pins and an 8-2 record, while JV2 placed fifth at 8,398. Harley Shene headlined the JV2 lineup with a 1,031 total and 206.2 average.

The Mustangs will next hit the lanes at the Leatherneck Classic next weekend in Illinois.
