Mustangs Run at Leatherneck Classic Title Ends in Semifinals
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Mount Mercy men's bowling team saw their run at the Leatherneck Classic end in the semifinals after finishing first in qualifying.
The Mustangs ended day one in first place with a pin count of 8550, topping St. Ambrose by 32 pins, and ahead of NCAA DI Wichita State, who ended in third at 8506 pins. The Mustangs battled back from being outside of the top five for most of qualifying to head into bracket play in first place.
In bracket play, the Mustangs took care of Trine University in the opening round in four games before taking on Calument College, where the Mustangs would fall in the semifinals in five games. On the individual side, Zach Andresen finished first on the team, while finishing 23rd overall with a total pinfall of 1068. Keaton Ostrowski rounded out the Mustangs in the top 30, ending in 29th with a total pinfall of 1047.
The Mustangs will return to the lanes next weekend, taking on the NAIA Invitational in Topeka, Kansas, starting on Friday.
